A debut, then, for Florida-based Kyle Wyss, under his electronic music alias Chromatic Flights, with the floating, serene indietronica of 'Memories From The Audible Colour Wheel EP' - some of the lusher, more indie-influenced instrumental grooves we've run across in a while. Wyss is just 17 years old, and we'll let him explain: "This is my first solo EP (Memories from the Audible Colour Wheel), but I've been playing in an indie/experimental rock band for about 4 years. I decided over the...

Here at Silber, mothers have always had a special place in our heart. So we’re happy to finally get a compilation together to pay a little bit of the tribute mothers are so dearly due. Everyone has a different style of song to show their love from heavy metal (Wrong Brothers) to post-rock (Glissade, Electric Bird Noise) to noise (Moral Crayfish) to simply acoustic guitar (Remora). While most went the instrumental route, the songs with vocals by Plumerai & Miss Massive Snowflake show the...

Younnat, the first artist from Ukraine gives us interesting tracks with wonderful sounds. "The Duct" is the debut album, compilation of instrumental tracks in electronic eclecticism style. Sometimes romantic, sometimes sufficiently harsh. Net release contains 6 tracks. Full version of album consists of 14 compositions.

this compilation is about free-music! ...not only the newest tracks, simply just those, who i enjoied most in the last 10 month of maintaining the lemonjohn-blog . i decided to inlcude only tracks which can be described with the genres: indie-pop-rock-folk, because thereâs currently a really big net-scene about free-electronic music, but it seems to be nearly forgotten that there are lots of amazing artists in those genres who also give their music away for free. Entertainment for the Braindead is Julia Kotowski from Cologne and her music can be considered as acoustic, private, fragile and touching. Therefore she coined the term "acoustic dilettante post-something", which refers to her unique D.I.Y. attitude that goes all along in the process of creating her music. Just like her debut "Hypersomnia", her new EP "Hydrophobia" is full of heart and soul and was created in her parents' living room. There she spent hours in front...

For their fourth release, Hungry Lucy beautifully demonstrates their passion for the craft of songwriting. Rather than spend months in production, this time around the duo present "Before We Stand ... We Crawl" as a collection of six raw, emotional songs. These basic arrangements use piano, acoustic guitar, strings, wind instruments and sparse drum parts to underpin Christa Belle’s heart-felt lyrics and highly emotive vocals. Taking the "less is more" approach, the duo...

Hilarious romantic comedy starring Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell. Russell is rough and tumble reporter looking to get out of the news racket by marrying and becoming a house wife after her divorce from newspaper publisher Grant. Just when she is about to leave town with her husband-to-be the still lovesick Grant drafts her to cover one final breaking news sensation. Along with plenty of laughs and fast paced dialog this film provides a witty and cynical look at news business. There is a...

The Sleeping Tree is Giulio Frausin from Italy. In the Spring of 2008, Filippo Aldovini of Zymogen Netlabel recommended this decent guy to us. We got in for a chat, failed to meet in Düsseldorf but agreed on a release somewhat later the year. Giulio's blueprint of low-key Pop- and Folk music was absorbing from the first seconds of his heart rendering "Love is an Eternal Lie" hit single, online as a demo version at myspace back then. The Sleeping Tree appeared with a bitter-sweet...

The young lad behind the Crepusculum-moniker is Fred Baty from London. 'Crepusculum' is latin for sundown and suits the music of our December-release perfectly: the day is done, you're creeping home to take a rest, to chat with the ones you love, to do what life REALLY is about. This ambience of being-at-home is a also a fairly good Christmas-motive, so maybe the best time to enjoy Fred's Sky Diaries EP is now... What does it sound like? If you're down with the 12rec.-backcatalogue, you'll...

Milhaven are a postrock-band from Bochum we discovered two years ago. Sven Swift recorded and produced their first album and this brand new EP. The story so far... After the release of Bars Closing Down in the early days of 12rec, Milhaven soon became one of our most downloaded artists. In the Winter of 2006, nearly one year ago, we met in their old, dirt-laden rehearsal room and started to record new songs. Hooked by the success of the debut LP, Sven thrashed the old tape-recorder and spend...

This is a compilation of tracks, ranging of themes written for radio programs, completed songs and left-over experiments from the past 10 years. A lot of it is constructed from samples, with additional live instrumentation. A number of tracks included here were originally composed for use as radio themes, underscores, or for 'backtime' (a term used by in the radio industry as background music that is timed to finish at a desired time). "Enlightened False Consciousness" is French Teen Idol's second release, following the 2005 self-titled debut album. Melancholic piano patterns, dreamy atmospheres, vocal samples and striking instrumental crescendos, some of the ingredients of French Teen Idol's debut album, are sill there, enriched by the continuous search for new musical solutions, including a more classical "song-structure" approach in some tracks. Producer JV Munoz returns under a different guise as Cardinal Zen (Munoz released an earlier EP on QED under the name Makkina). And this Floppy Pillows EP takes his penchant for knitting together relaxing downtempo tunes, and turns it into a mantra: Chill out, now; stress out tomorrow. These are minimalist tunes, which are rarely not much more than a droning bass, a pad and some rhythmic loops... and yet, it all works.

I recognized young Herzog a bit later than I could have. Being an important part of the Welsh Serein-collective, he contributed a wonderful piece of electro-acoustic ambient for the second label compilation OIO which, in a whole, was enjoyed a lot at the 12rec. world headquarter. We got the Crepusculum EP in the pipe and planned to add a remix to give Fred Batys' folklore music a decent electric twist. So we got in contact with Bill Bawden a.k.a. Herzog. His idea of transforming analogue sounds...

An instrumental "concept album" - heavy drone-doom metal - minimal feeding-back guitars, simple bass, heavy drums, based on bands like Khanate, Sunn O))), Jesu, but not quite as heavy or down-tuned. Very simple and droney, but a few pieces are of my more common style, with improvised guitar solos, and spacey synths. A few might even be considered heavy metal, or death metal. "The Animal Economy" is MonoCulture's third official album. It was created during and directly after a study abroad trip, in the latter half of 2005. Sound sources were drawn from countless hours of field recordings harvested in Hiroshima, and from a stack of cheap vinyl purchased at a crusty thrift store in Phoenix, Arizona. On this release, MonoCulture veers away from IDM, into the genre of instrumental HipHop. The result is a rhythmic chopshop of drums stolen from bad Christian...
